This is my attempt to document the lives of my wonderful son, my dog Kodi,  taking care of my 83 year old dad and the things that happen to us as we take care of each other. It will be a journey of starts , stops, love, pain and a story of perseverance in trying to take care of ach other. It will be journey and written from the past, jump forward to the present and everything in between.  I will try to keep it uplifting and positive.  Already enough negativity in the world. A little about me.  I am an intensely patriotic veteran who served in the US Navy for 20 years. I believe we are the "shining city" on the hill and an idea that is always being improved upon. This blog will also share my ideas on food, supplementation, exercise and life.  Full disclosure, I own the companies or have a vested interest in their success and will note that as I blog.

What a wonderful and joyful day yesterday. Many of you know I take care of my 83 year old Dad. Many many stories there but that is for anther time. He has suffered from dementia for many years and he deteriorated so much that I had to place him in a home last June due to my inability to do everything and the overwhelming (at the time) nature of what was going on in life. Long story short I was unexpectedly told on Dec 14 , 2014 that they could no longer care for him and I had to bring him back home. All he did was basically lie there ALL the time. Well , I decided after much research to change his diet and feed his brain and body a very high fat and moderate protein diet with a mix of avocado, coconut oil and my companies proteins as well as other things I thought could cross the blood brain barrier. It has been ongoing for almost six months and an incredible transformation has taken place. On the Mini mental status exam administered by the doctors he went from a 1 ( the last few years) to a 14 (30 is high on scale) and answered so much. He knew where he was at, the city, state and floor of the hospital. Answered math questions and so much more... I have been living this but to see it quantified is beyond an incredible feeling. He now eats breakfast at the table, engages in small talk and can come downstairs and see outside from where he sits. Still issues but the journey back to a decent quality of life continues. At times I have felt like the mad scientist trying to prove his own theories but to have it quantified brings me great joy. There is merit in the healing powers of food!
